Free Home Clinic

The HOME Clinic is a probono community Service Program of the Housing Opportunities Collaborative (HOC), a coalition of nonprofit organizations and agencies in the San Diego Region.  The HOME Clinic will enable you to access existing resources and services pertinent to you as a tenant, on how to become a homeowner, or if you have difficulties in making monthly mortgage payments.

San Diego County Library Volunteer of the Year

 On Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 Vista Library volunteer Germán Gutierrez was presented by the SD County Board of Supervisors with  the San Diego County Library Volunteer of the Year Award.  Each week Germán  tutors English as a Second Language learners as well as those interested in   one on one  instruction on computer basics. The Vista Library salutes all of our many terrific volunteers.   For more information on how you can volunteer at your library,  please contact staff at either the Reference or Circulation Desks.

Color Copies

All San Diego  County Public Libraries have removed their Color Printers. Copies are only  available  in Black and White at the Vista   Library.

Prom Dress Give Away

 Prom Dress Give Away  was a smashing success at the Vista Library on Saturday, April 17th!  Our community and patrons donated over 235 dresses for our  first time  event. Bravo to Youth Librarian Orquidia Contreras  who planned and executed the program. Shortly after organizing the dresses, Orquidia proudly displays the total number on the morning of the event.

May 30th Jewish KLEZMER Concert

Alexander Gourevitch and Freilachs - One of the world’s most exciting players of Jewish KLEZMER will be appearing sponsored by the SD County Libraries and the Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival.  Alexaxander Gourevitch was trained in Russia, plays for Orquesta de Baja California and expresses his musical soul with his entire body!   Klezmer music is about joy, heart, and soul and Alexander’s soulful clarinet will make you dance with joy.  Join Alexander and his band Freilachs for a special Sunday concert on May 30.

National Library Week Proclamation

In celebration of National Library Week, Vista’s Mayor Vance presented the library with  a National Library Week Proclamation on Wednesday , April 14th.  Light Refresments were served after the presentation.

Library Director Aponte recognised and congratulated  our own Pavilina Nasim with a Certificate of Appreciation and a   National Library Week Worker Day Award.

Farmer Jones Composting

Don’t miss  Farmer Jones this Sunday April 18th at 2 pm. She’ll be teaching families how to compost!

People’s Post

His Story, Her Story, Everyone has a Story… Be Part of San Diego’s Story by Digitally Recording a small part of your life story with the People’s Post.

Participate in a  training workshop. You’ll learn how to organize your memories for recording, which

visual affects can be included and time limitations.

Families in the Garden: Composting What goes in? What comes out?

         This special presentation by Farmer Jones is FREE at the Vista Library on Sunday, April 18 from 2 to 3 p.m. Your whole family is invited to learn all about making compost from your kitchen and yard waste.

Bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle to make a mini-compost to take home! Farmer Jones will also share how you can make a worm bin for your home.
